Lexington, Kentucky – The Fayette County Coroner is currently investigating the tragic death of a 3-month-old baby, Greyson Torres, who was pronounced dead on October 2 at Kentucky Children’s Hospital. The coroner has ruled the cause of death as multiple blunt force traumatic injuries, categorizing it as a homicide stemming from alleged criminal abuse.
The events leading to the infant’s death are under scrutiny, with 20-year-old Amancio Torres-Trevino Jr. facing charges of first-degree criminal abuse of a child aged 12 or younger. According to an arrest citation, Torres-Trevino was responsible for Greyson while alone with him on September 29 at a residence located at 2800 Alumni Drive. The citation suggests the injuries included serious trauma to the head and torso, as well as internal damage, resulting from physical abuse. Medical personnel described the injuries as life-threatening upon Greyson’s arrival at the hospital.
In addition to Torres-Trevino, Kaela Breann Walker, also 20 years old, has been charged in connection with the case. Walker failed to report the abuse or intervene during the alleged incidents, according to her arrest citation. Both individuals face serious legal repercussions, although additional charges may be forthcoming as the investigation unfolds.
The Lexington Police Department is treating the case as a homicide, emphasizing the gravity of the situation and the implications of child abuse within the community.
