Carson Kressley Celebrates a Garden Opening in Lexington

LEXINGTON, KY – The city turned a shade greener on Monday as television personality Carson Kressley hosted a garden opening at the American Saddlebred Museum. The sold-out event was attended by over 200 people who came to witness the unveiling of the Sally and Joe Jackson Heritage Garden.

Kentucky Native Adds Green Splash

This beautifully landscaped garden is the work of Kentucky’s own critically acclaimed designer Jon Carloftis, who transformed the museum property with a profusion of native plants. Speaking at the event, Carloftis said, “When you drive in, it takes your eye, and it has a really nice rhythm to it, this garden”.

Carloftis’ Garden Philosophy

Known for his enduring designs, Carloftis further emphasized on his philosophy of creating sustainable gardens that grow more stunning with each year. “Anybody can design anything, but if it doesn’t last and get better each year then it’s not worth too much. I use a lot of native plants, a lot of evergreens so that in the winter, it will be just as beautiful”

Carson Kressley’s Triple Treat

Having himself kept horses in Kentucky, Carson Kressley, from the Bravo show Queer Eye, shared his love for the Saddlebreds in style. In addition to coordinating the event, Carson led a fashion show and shared his insights about design and its impact. “As an interior designer, I think you always look to the outside for cues on how you are going to decorate your home, and the outside is really important. I think design whether it’s interiors or gardens allows you to use your space and really connect with it”, said Carson.

Saluting the Champions

In tribute to the garden’s namesakes, Sally and Joe Jackson who owned the Grand Champion Five-Gaited American Saddlebred, Wild-Eyed & Wicked, a statue of the champion horse adorns the garden center.

The garden opening turned out to be a splendid affair, not just for the equestrian enthusiasts but also for the lovers of design, nature, and fashion. As the lush green garden enhances the exterior charm of the American Saddlebred Museum, it has undoubtedly sparked a buzz of curiosity among the public.
