Firefighter and Resident Hospitalized following House Fire in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. — A firefighter and a resident were rushed to the hospital on Sunday following a severe house fire on Bishop Drive, a quiet residential street in Lexington.

Response to House Fire

At promptly 2:11 p.m., the Lexington Fire Department responded to the call. The team arrived at a two-story split-level property to find smoke and flames already fiercely aggressive. The fire crews swiftly sprang into action, battling the fire as they aimed to get it under control.

Firefighter and Resident Hospitalized

In the process of extinguishing the fire, one firefighter suffered smoke inhalation and exhaustion. He was immediately rushed to a local hospital and is expected to be discharged later in the day.

In addition to the brave firefighter, one resident of the home was also taken to the hospital for treatment following smoke inhalation. The severity of the resident’s condition is yet to be disclosed.

As smoke-clearing operations continue into the afternoon, investigators are currently focussed on determining the source of the fire. As of now, the cause of this tragic incident remains unclear.
