Versailles, Kentucky: Eckert’s Orchard opens for season with lively strawberry-picking event
Versailles, KY – With the first flush of spring making its way to Kentucky, Eckert’s Orchard has opened its gates for the season with a fun-filled Pick-Your-Own-Strawberries event. Punctuating the blossoming Vermillion countryside, the event started at nine in the morning on Saturday and was welcomed with a bustling crowd.
Eckert’s Orchard enthralls with Strawberry fields
Guests were invited to stroll through the verdant strawberry fields and harvest the fresh, sun-ripened fruit themselves. The sweetness of the berries was not the only thing in abundance at the farm though. Megan Fields, the Farm Manager, gleefully reported a great turnout at the event.
“We have strawberries in the store and we opened pick your own this week as well,” Fields said. “Everybody’s coming out to pick your own strawberries, and there is a ton of them out there for sure. We never know if turnout is going to be great because of Derby day or not, but it’s been an incredible day getting to see folks that we haven’t seen all winter,” she happily shared.

The farm event concluded at 5 p.m., marking the end of a day filled with joy and strawberries. According to Fields, the orchard has been swamped with customers, reaffirming the spirit of the local community and their fondness for the much-loved pastime of strawberry picking.
