Lexington, Ky. – In a concerning welfare case, 22 dogs were rescued from unsanitary living conditions by local animal welfare officials. The incident unfolded on Wednesday morning at an apartment located on Cross Keys Road.
Responding to a report of animal neglect, the Lexington-Fayette Animal Care & Control department discovered the dogs living inappropriately. Following this finding, the dogs were promptly removed from the apartment and are now under the care of the department.
Officials have indicated that the owner of the dogs has been charged with neglect. However, the owner’s identity has not yet been disclosed.
The rescued dogs, which include puppies, were surrendered to Lexington-Fayette Animal Care & Control. Plans are in place for these dogs to be available for adoption through the Lexington Humane Society.
