In a partnership aimed towards making dreams come alive, Lexington braces up for a new construction project that will deliver more than bricks and mortar.
LEXINGTON, Ky – It is often said that if you’ve got the ability to help someone, you should. And Lexington is embodying this sentiment fully. It’s not just about constructing a home; it’s about constructing hope. A project once again aims to raise funds for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, an initiative that witnessed heartwarming success in 2023, amassing $700,000 in just about a month. This time around, the city is set to make the dream even bigger, targeting an even more impressive figure.
An empty lot in the Home Place subdivision off Polo Club Boulevard is the site chosen for this mission. It’s not just any site; it’s the site where a home – the 2024 St. Jude Dream Home – will be built with love, hope, and a shared purpose.
Chris and Chellie Mulberry, locally based builders who operate Mulberry Builders, a family-focused construction firm, are on board for the second year running. Built with a clear purpose and a deeper foundation, the home being erected at 3520 Stolen Horse Trace will boast an all-donated set of materials. The goal? There is more than one.
The upcoming 1800 square foot ranch home, the tenth of its kind in central Kentucky, is aiming high. The new house will not only include three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a large kitchen island, a two-car garage, and vaulted ceilings but also a set of features tailored to rendering the home as accessible as possible. This year, the focus lies heavily on American Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance, featuring widened doorways, curb-less showers, barrier-free thresholds, and more. A home made for all, catering to every need, and constructed out of love is on the horizon.
Thanks to the house’s $100 ticket sales, the raise will benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital – a Memphis-based facility that holds the beacon of hope for countless critically ill children and their loved ones. For families battling child sickness, this project offers a glimmer of hope, ensuring they don’t have to bear the burden of expenses for travel, treatment, housing, or food.
This house isn’t just about providing shelter to a lucky family. The endeavor embraces a far broader mission. Every penny raised through this project goes directly towards ensuring the continuity of the noble mission of St. Jude, providing resolute support to the children and families who rely on it every day.
The sale of the Dream Home giveaway tickets starts on June 27, 2024, and the luckiest of the contestants will be announced on September 26, 2024. It’s not just about one lucky family; it’s about many families finding solace through the extensively awaited St. Jude Dream Home project in Lexington.
